Sunray Home Bakeries & Coffee Shop is a well-loved café nestled on Park Street in the heart of Demesne, Dundalk. This spot carries a distinct local charm that feels more like stepping into a neighbor’s welcoming kitchen than a typical café. Known primarily for its hearty, traditional fare alongside freshly baked goods, Sunray draws a steady stream of locals who come for a casual coffee break or a simple, satisfying lunch.

The atmosphere here is relaxed and cosy, with a friendly, unpretentious vibe that invites lingering. Regulars often appreciate the familiar faces behind the counter who take time to chat, making the space feel like a community hub rather than just a place to grab a quick bite. The fact that the café operates on a cash-only basis seems to add to its old-school neighborhood character, a detail that locals accept as part of its identity.

Sunray is particularly practical for those looking for comfort food without fuss — whether it’s a full Irish breakfast or some classic bakery treats baked fresh each day. Portions are generous, and prices remain down-to-earth, which makes it a frequent choice for families and workers nearby. Busy mornings and midday breaks are when the café hums with activity, offering a reliable stop for anyone wanting quick service paired with a warm welcome.

Visitors wanting a genuine local experience will find that Sunray suits those who value straightforward, homey food served by people who know their community. The absence of outdoor seating means this is very much an inside spot — cozy, sometimes bustling, but never rushed. It’s a place where the atmosphere is built around comfortable familiarity more than trendy design.

The best café + bakery in town. The girls are so sound and accommodating, feels like home. Best fry and brilliant affordable prices. The place is so cosy I will literally cry and scream if they ever re decorate.

Really is the place to go at the moment. The food is excellent the staff are the friendliest and most helpful I've met in a long time. No surprise that it can be hard to get a table sometimes but worth waiting for and the price will surprise you.

Only called to spend Euros before cycling north. Generous sized pot of tasty tea and a massive range of cakes and savouries. A German lady cycling south saw my bike so joined me: convivial meeting place!
